I, Abhishek Pandya, (2016 graduate), currently pursuing Project Management, Conestoga College, Ontario, Canada, and a proud alumnus of Christ college, am grateful to describe my experience at it. Albert Einstein once said that “time is a relative term”. This was true because the three years of my bachelor’s degree seems to be over in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, I was one of the late admissions to the B.Sc.program because of some mishaps in the 12th board exams and stepping into the college life for such a person can be intimidating. I had no idea how I would be able to cope up with the studies, but because of faculties such as Arvindakshan Sir, Nimisha Ma’am, Shares Sir, and others, the constant support and motivation made it a piece of cake. My weak points were becoming my strengths and my doubts were answered satisfactorily. The college is at the pinnacle in every standard, whether it is the ambiance, faculties, facilities or sports. I still remember my father saying, that with such a great college, he would like to get admission in the college as well! The exposure I obtained during my course was useful and helped me in getting this far. Events such as Science Symposia, Alumni interactions, Sports week and many national conferences, prepared a student in every aspect. Various clubs like Rotaract club, Cultural club, Science club, broadened the pupil’s vision and imagination. The college also has a mentor program in which a certain number of students were assigned to a faculty from some other department and can discuss any problem that is hindering the student’s progress. The college appreciably goes the extra mile about caring and nurturing the student. During my post-graduation, after my viva, I was asked where I had done my bachelor’s from. I replied ‘from Christ college’, the examiner smiled and said: “I should have guessed”. Hearing that, I realized how, from an average student to one of the distinctive ones, I have developed. No wonder Dr. A P J Kalam said that he too would have applied for this college if he was 19.

The Physics department at Christ College offers the quality learning experience in state. The department has very experienced faculties as well as few young minds giving the combined benefit of experience and modern ideas. Faculties, along with teaching, encourage students to participate in various since related and extra-curricular activities for overall development. In addition to the teaching in class, the experimental labs of department are equipped with lot of exciting experimental setup. The combination of theoretical and experimental understanding helps visualize the concept better. For me overall it was a great experience studying there.

For three years the campus was a second home for me. The rich library and the series of activities through the science club provided many opportunities to learn new things with fun. I wouldn’t be what I am today without those days at the Christ College. The memories of college life stay forever as I feel it was the best journey of my life. The best part of the Christ College is that it lets you develop your passion for a field you are interested in, be it arts, sports or sciences. The environment is not to mould every student in the same shape but to let them find their actual interests and to let them develop multifaceted skills. A flashback of the golden times, memories that stay, time that fleets away... We enter college with dream filled eyes, as it is indeed a stepping stone to our future lives. Some select courses based on their interests, others trust their friend's decisions, while a few take up a course just to fulfill family obligations. The three years that I spent at Christ College, Rajkot, has not only helped me develop the knowledge that I withhold today, but also taught me the do's and don'ts of becoming a better person.  The campus welcomed me everyday with opportunities and challenges, the classrooms filled with new friendships to experience, the faculty who were always ready to encourage and guide me to unexplored limits. Various competitions and events conducted by the college helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses. The canteen introduced me to ghugras and the labs to experimentation.  The opportunities to participate in presentation competitions, celebrate each and every festival with zeal, the BARC experience, the symposium, etc., have simply made the three years worthwhile. For me Christ College has always inspired me to think differently. The experiences are like no other time in my life for I believe that "A mind is a fire to be kindled, not a vessel to be filled."

Overall, I attribute much of my success in the field of Physics to the excellent education and support I received at Christ College Rajkot's Department of Physics. People say school is the best time of life and that is usually what brings nostalgia to people. For me, nostalgia begins from Christ College, Rajkot. School is where you mould yourself but Christ College is where I molded myself while living the time of my life. Saying nice things about their Alma Mater is easy for most people, but for people like me, it is an inexplicable feeling, because I have no idea how I graduated in a jiffy. The level of support I have had from my faculty throughout the three years is akin to the feeling of warmth on an unnervingly cold winter night. I participated in competitions which were meaningfully light-years away from the stream I belonged to. The unflinching support and care, not only from the faculty of my department, but from every other faculty in the college, is what makes Christ College, Rajkot stand out from any other college. I can say that with utmost sincerity and faith without being to any other colleges, because I don’t need to find another home when I already have one. Christ College, Rajkot may not have the best infrastructural amenities but they definitely have State of the Art ideology and approach to teaching. I owe a great deal of my character and my personality to the college and its faculty and management. Thank you would never suffice what Christ College, Rajkot has done for me.
