The Department of Botany, Christ College, Rajkot, has a three-year Bachelor’s program with specialization in Botany, was started from 1998. The Botany Department is unique at Christ College because of our focus on fundamental teaching and research on plants as well as our study of Biodiversity, Morphology, Populations, Ecosystem and various advance techniques of which they are the key component. Department conducts basic and applied Botany based events. Such topics include Medicinal Plants, ecological disturbance, invasive species, global climate change and forestry. These topics are investigated using such tools as remote sensing, microscopy, biogeochemical and physiological approaches and field and laboratory experiments. Our students receive a high quality education through engagement in these topics and tools and faculty involvement in science education research. Within the department, we offer B.Sc in Botany.

The faculty members of the department have also authored many books and participated in national and international conference. The publication of their research works in various journals are also one of the research activities of the Department.
