Department of Botany teaches students the fundamentals of botanical concept as well as modern ideas and thoughts for sustaining in global world. To offer wide and relevant Nature education to the students with a view of shaping their scientific temperament and environmental awareness and to uplift the student capable of facing challenges in life efficiently and carve their own future.

To train the next generation to be taxonomist, anatomist, ecologist, biodiversity conservation expert, plant physiologist, Paleo-botanist and many more in the fields of Botany.
To contribute in curricular innovations which will help the students to enhance skill development eventually a professional career.
To conduct basic and applied Botany focused on Medicinal Plants, Biodiversity, ecological disturbance, invasive species, global climate change and forestry. These topics are investigated using tools as remote sensing, microscopy, biogeochemical and physiological approaches, hybridization techniques and field and laboratory experiments.
The Botany Department is reputed for its knowledgeable, hardworking and caring faculty members as well as enthusiastic, intelligent and disciplined students. The department regularly organizes the expert/guest lectures to cover content beyond curriculum and organizes the activities for student personality and professional development. The faculty members of the department have also authored many books and participated in national and international conference. The publication of their research works in various journals are also one of the research activities of the Department.
